Dear Delegates, Guests, and Partners,

 

Welcome to Champions Cup 2026.

It is my great honour to introduce this year’s theme: “Prudentes Futuri: Purpose in Every Action.” In Latin, Prudentes Futuri translates to "the wise of the future." It is a call to look beyond the immediate victory of a debate and consider the ripple effects of our decisions.

When I first entered the world of Model UN, I saw it as many do — a simulation of global politics. But as I moved from being a delegate to a member of the Secretariat, and now your Secretary-General, my perspective shifted. I realized that MUN is not just about the "what" (the politics), but the "how" (the process). It is a masterclass in discipline, time management, and the art of professional networking. The connections we make in these halls don’t disappear when the gavel falls; they become the social fabric of our future careers.

 

However, there is a trap in simulations. Because it is easy to make reckless decisions or give up when a strategy fails. In the real world — the world we are preparing to enter - we do not have that luxury. Every action we take as leaders and human beings carries a weight that affects lives.

 

That is why the Champions Cup 2026 is different. This year, we aren't just debating issues; we are practising purpose. Whether you are a seasoned delegate or a first-timer who feels like MUN is "just politics," this conference is your invitation to reopen the door. It is a space to realize that, while you will mess up and face setbacks, the true mark of a leader is the ability to stand back up, adapt, and move forward with newfound wisdom.

 

My hope for you is simple: when you close your handbook at the end of this weekend, you don’t just leave with a certificate. You leave looking at the world as a field of endless opportunities. I want you to walk away knowing that even if you fail, you have the power to rethink, recalibrate, and act again — this time, with purpose.

 

Champions Cup 2026 is the place where you stop being just a student and start becoming Prudentes Futuri.
